There are two types of prepositions:
In, On, At are prepositions of time.
We use:
-
"in" for MONTHS, YEARS, CENTURIES and LONG PERIODS
-
"on" for DAYS and DATES
-
"at" for a PRECISE TIME
and
In, On, At are prepositions of place.
Prepositions of place describe the position of a person or thing in relation to another person or thing.
In general, we use:
-
"in" for an ENCLOSED SPACE
-
"on" for a SURFACE
-
"at" for a POINT




They are sitting at the table
There is a shark in the water!
There is a stain on his shirt
